Chavez´ Last Theater

“Attention members, this note contains vile language”, warned Reuter upon broadcasting information that Chávez was giving the US Ambassador 72 hours to get out of Venezuela.  !Go to hell, shitty Americans!”, he exclaimed, inflamed, in a support event for Mario Silva, his candidate for the Carabobo State´s  Governor’s  Office.  Precisely, it was Silva, the night before, in a TV show by the Government’s  channel, where such language is frequently used to insult his opposers, who broadcasted the recording of conversations which, according to him, came from Military who conspired and planned to assassinate Chávez.  He called on the phone to confirm the claim and threatened with a “demolishing counter coup”.  The magnitude and scope of the “counter coup” was explained upon his return from Carabobo, before a group of party men summoned to Miraflores.  He manifested his conviction that a coup d´etat or a genocide would have more devastating effects than the worst of hurricanes.  “The pitiyanquis would know what the force of the people defending the revolution would be like, an armed revolution, and this time, Hugo Chávez is not willing to be tolerant as he was on April 11”.  He made prolonged references to Bolivia and announced:  “If Evo is overthrown or killed, I would be getting the green light to support any armed movement to restore the power of the people”.  The US responded with the expulsion of the Venezuelan Ambassador.  Washington declared that they want good relations with the region, but it assumes that Venezuela and Bolivia do not.  “Accordingly, the treatment given to both countries will not be the same”.  The following day, in a telephone interview broadcasted by the Government’s  channel, Chávez, in a serene tone, said that his decision was “just a diplomatic gesture of solidarity with Bolivia”, and that it should not alter the commercial or energetic relations.  The expert, Ramón Espinasa, in a study regarding the performance of the oil sector in the last years, shows that the exportations to the US have declined, by the middle of 2008, to 1,170,000 barrels a day, and generate almost the totality of the cash income, since the sales under government agreements are mostly financed at long term or subject to barter mechanisms.

The spokespeople for the opposition coincided in condemning the expulsion of the North American Ambassador and in pointing out that this was all about a “circus” to distract the voters and to stop the breaking apart of the pro Chávez movement.  They stated that 29 denounces of coups d´etat have been formulated, including the assassination hypothesis, and there is nobody processed or sentenced for these crimes.  The High Military Command declared that there was unity in the Armed Forces.  “We have a very efficient intelligence and counter intelligence apparatus.  We knew of the denounces, but the fact is that we were informed of the details upon the President’s public declarations”.  As per El Universal, Chávez is ever more cornered by his own mistakes, in a context of corruption that is being perceived by the population and the dissatisfaction by the inefficiency of the social programs and the plans for the poorest sectors.  “The expulsion of the US Ambassador is a manifestation of desperation, before the international opinion and before the country.  Regrettably, these mistakes have a cost that we will all pay”.

ANTONINI´S  BRIEFCASE EXPLODES

The suitcase full of Dollars ceased in Buenos Aires to the Venezuelan business man Guido Antonini in August of 2007 turned out to be a bomb with a tremendous explosive power.  Again, it is highlighted in the media of many countries due to the evidence that is surfacing at the trial in the US by the District Attorney’s  Office against Franklin Durán, accused as an undercover agent to disguise the origin and destiny of the money.  Testimonies presented confirm that the $800,000 were supplied by PDVSA for Cristina Kirchner´s  campaign.  She affirms that it is a “garbage operation” and her Chancellor’s  Office issued a communication alleging that the relations with the US “are affected”.  For Chávez, these are “lies from the Empire”, and announced that during the following days he will have an interview with Mrs. K to ratify cooperation agreements.  The Casa Rosada informed that the interview was suspended.  Venezuela Hoy (August 15, 2007) commented on the antecedents.  Antonini appeared at Customs as the carrier of the suitcase, in a rented plane by Enarsa (the Argentinean State oil company), accompanied by Pdvsa´s  officers and Claudio Uberti, one of the, at the time President´s  Kirchner trusted men, allegedly in charge of collecting funds for Cristina´s  campaign.  For two days he remained free in Buenos Aires, identified as an attendant to the meeting in the Presidential house and traveled to the US, since he also holds a US citizenship.  Partners of the business man were sent to Miami to inform him of the concern in Caracas regarding the issue and they warned him that his actions could risk the lives of his children.  Scared, Antonini resolved to collaborate with the authorities, in exchange of not being tried, agreeing to work with the FBI recording the following conversations that he had with officers very close to Chávez.  The information obtained determined that three of the partners pledged guilty of having conspired, pressured and blackmailed Antonini so that he would not implicate Chávez´ regime, in exchange of a reduction in the sanction.  This is how the District Attorney´s  Office is presenting evidences that surface the mafia signs of the so called Bolivarian Revolution.

Chávez would have personally ordered General Rangel Silva, his director in the intelligence agency, to “resolve” the scandal.  The ones implied appear as the Vice President at the time, Jorge Rodríguez, as well as Ministers, amongst which appears the current Ministry of Justice and Interior, the President of Pdvsa, whose authorization was indispensable for the delivery of the Dollars.  For the first time, in a reliable criminal trial, the x ray of the so called “Boli bourgeoisie” appears.  As per the confessions of four “Bolivarian” emblematic characters, who, at the beginning of the regime shared their lack of money with their lack of scruples, and who ended up as royal owners or intermediaries of major companies that made business with the government, received dozens of Millions of Dollars to pay commissions to high ranking officers, placed public funds in private banks to profit and distribute the commissions, they bought and sold arms in complicity with the Governors and Military Chiefs, whom they blackmailed.  They said that in one operation they won over $100 Million and paid a bribe of $23.8.  The trial is the documentary that explains Chávez´ efforts to distract the public national and international opinion with his scatological shows.  La Nación of Buenos Aires published a report with new data that appeared in the Miami trial, according to which, other briefcases were transported in the Enarsa plane, which contents, all together, were of $ 5 Million.  During the whole process, Chávez´ argument is that this is a fallacy from the Empire which is dedicated to destabilize the Revolutionary government.

 WILLING TO DIE FOR BOLIVIA

For Chávez´ judgment, the communication from the Office for the Control of Foreign Goods from the Department of the Treasure of the US (OFAC), who pointed out the top heads of his intelligence agency as collaborators of international terrorism, is an infamy from the Empire.  The black list includes the Director of Military Intelligence, Hugo Carvajal; General Rangel Silva, Head of the Political Police and Captain Rodríguez Chacín, who was, until recently, the Ministry of the Interior.  As per the communication, the three men “supported and financed the FARC, protected drug shipments and supplied arms to the drug guerrilla so that they maintained control in the Arauca Department, which borders with Venezuela, known as a zone for the cultivation and elaboration of cocaine.  They are pointed out as suppliers of official identification documents from the Venezuelan government to members of the FARC, to facilitate their travels.  As a consequence of the measure, their assets and funds in the US were frozen and it is forbidden to any US citizen to make business with the mentioned officers.  Although the measure is only applied in the US, in practice it has grave implications at the international level for the ones affected.  Apart from the US banks, many international institutions have of policy of closing the bank accounts and canceling the credit cards to the persons outlined by the OFAC, which black list is disclosed in the world financial system and which is available in Internet.

Aló Presidente was the opportunity for Chávez to show his satisfaction for the presence of the Russian bombers in Venezuela.  They are the biggest war planes in the world.  The Tu-160 may carry 12 rockets with nuclear or conventional missiles and 40 tons of bombs.  Moscow announced today that Russia will temporarily install in Venezuela attack planes for submarines.  The Venezuelan Navy, on their part, published a communication informing that 4 Russian vessels with approximately 1,000 men will be maneuvering in territorial waters from November 10 through November 14.  “On the part of the Venezuelan Navy component, the missile vessels, patrol and transport squadrons, air, navy and submarine units, as well as other patrol planes from the Aviation will participate in the operational exercises”.  Chávez explained that three months ago he had signed with Russia an agreement for this Military exercises.  “The Russian decision – he manifested – was taken on account of our initiative”.  According to Chávez, thanks to the strategic cooperation with Russia, those planes and the naval patrolling over the Atlantic in the days to come will allow to be duly informed of the movements of the IV North American fleet.  “So that it hurts you, pitiyanquis”.  “If something were to happen to Evo Morales, if he were overthrown, I will not remain with my arms crossed”.  This was the phrase used to announce his trip to Chile, for the meeting of Unesur, where, as he affirmed, he proposes to obtain a unanimous condemnation to the conspiracy of the Bolivian oligarchy with the barefaced support from the US.  He challenged the Bolivian Military, specially the Commander of the Army, for his rejection expressions over his collaboration offer.  “There are many gorilla generals in Latin America, show me, General Trigo, that I am mistaken with you”.  He asked the Bolivian Military not to join the game of Imperialism.  “Do the same as the Venezuelan soldiers…I am a soldier of the big country, and just the same way that I fight for Venezuela, I am willing to die for Bolivia”.
